1. Kelly says go to the newspapers if you want facts, but if you want sensation, pictures, color, action and immediacy - watch TV.(p.13) What is your impression of television journalism and how does reading this book effect your perceptions?

2. How did you react to the chapter on Wednesday's Child? (p.33)

3. What did you think of the Oregonian study which says kids are being cheated emotionally by absent, working parents? (p.99) Kelly adds that studies show responsible day care doesn't impact children that much.

4. Steve tells Kelly that both the Koran and the Jewish Talmud teach that we will be held accountable for every permissible pleasure life offered us, but which we didn't enjoy. (p.103) What is your reaction to this?

5. What is the importance of play in your life? Kelly recognizes that there is a child in her who resents the structure of her everyday life. (p. 59)

6. Kelly describes true lasting love as not starting out with fireworks, yet she yearns for something more. (p.153) She wonders how romantic movies and Cinderella stories effect her view of love. Do they serve any purpose?

7. Romance novels usually contain a strong male character. How is this similar to or different than television shows?
